1. Who we are
Summit Coach (“the App”) is developed by Sayegh (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is used, and the choices you have. This policy applies to the Summit Coach iOS application and the website at summitcoach.app.
2. Our privacy principles
- On-device first. Core coaching intelligence runs on your device using Apple Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence), when available.
- Health data stays local. Data read from or written to Apple Health (HealthKit) is used on your device to personalize coaching. The App does not upload HealthKit data to our servers.
- No account required for core features at launch.
- No sale of personal data. We do not sell your personal information.
- No advertising tracking via HealthKit or the App’s core features.
3. Information the App processes
Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the App may process:
3.1 Information you provide
- Profile details you enter (for example goals, experience level, equipment access, coach personality preferences, measurement units, and nutrition targets).
- Workout logs, notes, and progress information you record in the App.
- Meal descriptions, photos you choose to analyze, and nutrition estimates you accept or edit.
- Messages you send to the in-app coach chat.
This information is stored on your device (including via on-device storage such as SwiftData) so the App can work offline-first.
3.2 Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you grant Health access, the App may:
- Read activity, workouts, energy, sleep, weight, and nutrition-related samples to personalize coaching and summaries.
- Write (optional) workouts and nutrition you log in the App so they can appear in Apple Health.
HealthKit data is used only to provide app functionality related to fitness and wellness coaching. It is not used for advertising, not sold, and not used for data mining unrelated to device-side personalization. You can revoke Health access anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Summit Coach.
3.3 Camera and photo library
If you choose meal photo features, the App may access the camera or photos you select. Images are analyzed on your device for approximate calorie and macro estimates and are not uploaded by the App to our servers. You control whether to use these features.
3.4 Notifications
With your permission, the App may send optional local check-ins or encouragement related to your goals. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
3.5 On-device AI processing
Coaching chat, plan generation, weekly insights, and meal estimates use on-device models when available (Apple Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence). Processing occurs on your device. If on-device models are unavailable, the App may use limited offline fallbacks that still keep your data local. Meal estimates are approximate and user-editable.
3.6 What we do not collect (MVP)
- No required user account or login for core features.
- No in-app purchases or subscription billing data at launch.
- No third-party advertising SDKs in the MVP design.
- No intentional analytics/tracking pipeline in the MVP (if this changes, this policy will be updated).
4. Website
The summitcoach.app website is a static informational site. Like most websites, the host (for example Cloudflare) may process standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps as part of operating the site and protecting it from abuse. We do not use the marketing site to collect Health data.
If you email us for support, we will receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address and any diagnostics you choose to share) so we can respond.
5. How information is used
- To provide personal training, nutrition, and wellness coaching features you request.
- To personalize plans, chat context, targets, and progress views.
- To optionally sync workouts/nutrition you log into Apple Health.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To improve the App over time in ways consistent with this policy (and with updated notice if practices change materially).
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share HealthKit data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Limited sharing may occur only when:
- You direct it (for example, using iOS share sheets or writing data to Apple Health, which is controlled by Apple and your device settings);
- Required by law, regulation, or valid legal process; or
- Needed to protect rights, safety, and security (rare; not applicable to routine on-device Health data, which we do not host).
Apple provides the operating system, HealthKit, App Store, and on-device model capabilities under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. We do not control Apple’s systems.
7. Data retention and deletion
- App content you create is stored on your device until you delete it, reset app data in Settings, or delete the App.
- You can use in-app controls (where available) such as Reset All Data to clear local app data.
- Uninstalling the App removes the App’s local storage on that device (Apple Health data you previously wrote remains in Health unless you delete it there).
- Support emails we receive are retained only as long as needed to handle your request and basic records.
8. Security
We design the App to minimize data leaving your device. Device security also depends on your passcode, biometrics, OS updates, and backup settings. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but keeping sensitive coaching and Health personalization on-device reduces exposure compared to cloud-first designs.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided information to us via support email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Wellness disclaimer (not medical advice)
Summit Coach provides general fitness, nutrition, and wellness coaching only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
11. International users
The App is designed for on-device processing on your Apple device. If you contact us by email, your message may be processed in the United States or other locations where we or our email providers operate.
12. Your choices
- Grant or revoke Health, Camera, Photos, and Notifications permissions in iOS Settings.
- Edit or delete logs and estimates inside the App.
- Reset local app data or uninstall the App.
- Contact us with privacy questions at support@summitcoach.app.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
